About the CNS

The Cognitive Neuroscience (CNS) Research Group organizes a Master’s program in Neuropsychology & Cognitive Neuroscience, currently unique in Portugal at the Universidade do Algarve. The scientific work is being pursued in joint, long-standing cooperation with national and international, world leading scientific institutes, (including the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics and Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour, both in Nijmegen, the Netherlands)

The scientific objective of the Cognitive Neuroscience (CNS) Research Group is to further our understanding of the functional organization of the brain in central cognitive domains, including language, reading and writing, developmental dyslexia, and implicit learning. This is of central importance for both a theoretical understanding of brain function and applications in remediation and education strategies.
